Impact of DMD Tilt on BiDi Multimode Multi-Wavelength Transmission Performance

Speaker Bio: Jose Castro, Manager of the Fiber Research Group, Panduit Corporation (Illinois, USA)

Abstract: Multimode fiber (MMF) utilization in enterprise Data Centers is predominant. Demand for higher data rates can require the use of multiple wavelengths. The modal bandwidth of OM3 and OM4 at wavelengths beyond 850 nm can be a limitation for multi-wavelength transmission. There has been extensive work to estimate those modal bandwidths. This Paper describes some of the models used to estimate the effective modal bandwidth at longer wavelengths (EMBW) for OM4 and the effect of DMD tilt at 850nm on worst-case modal bandwidth.
