Abstract: The authors of this technical paper demonstrate the feasibility of supporting 800 Gb/s ethernet traffic transmission over an 8-core multimode multicore fiber (MM-MCF) and 700 Gb/s (potentially 1.6 Tb/s) ethernet traffic transmission over a 4-core single mode multicore fiber (SM-MCF) with a conventional 125 μm cladding in distances suitable for datacenter applications using several 400GbE transceivers.
